1. Improves Pronunciation, Word Usage and Fluency

By listening instead of physically reading, you will hear how certain words are pronounced and used in sentences. In school, we learn about grammar and proper word usage but not really at a level that we're learning them to get the gist of a book or story. By hearing a professional reader speak out the words from an audiobook, you can also learn how different intonations are used and the accent that comes with it. The more you listen to this certain reader, the more you will eventually copy their style which is beneficial to your speaking skill in general. By listening to the live usage of grammar and to the articulation of words, your learning is more likely to improve much better than when you are reading a book and listening to your own head voice.

2. Improves Focus

Listening to audiobooks gradually increases your ability to pay attention to what you're actually listening to, despite distractions. The more you practice, the more your listening skill improves to the point that you can still be on track while doing other activities in the process. By doing active listening, you can choose to fully pay attention to what is being read and still do a few basic tasks which require less attention. You can be mowing your lawn, doing the dishes, or even cooking food while listening to an audiobook. As long as the other task you pair with doesn't require too much attention, understanding what you're listening to won't be a problem. Listening to a book being read and physically reading that book would be the same in terms of reading comprehension.

3. Improves Memory

According to research, sensory perception plays an important part in memory retention. The more you actively use your sense of hearing through listening to audiobooks, the more it creates neural connections to your brain creating memories. With audiobooks, you can easily repeat or replay a certain section, making it easier to retain information. Also, having the reader's voice in your head makes it easier to recall that information. Remembering how a certain phrase or sentence was read including the expression that came with it, makes it easier to recollect.

4. Improves Productivity and Time-Management

When you are physically reading a book, the requirements would be to sit down, be steady, and focus all your attention on reading that certain book. On the other hand, listening to an audiobook eliminates all these requirements. You don't have to be sat down, steady, or be fully focused. Listening to audiobooks can make you productive at the same time. You can clean your house while listening to an audiobook. You can work out, jog, or even run while listening at the same time. You can also do this whether you're in a car or commuting to work. You can hit the play button every time you go into an idle situation.

5. Saves You From Screen-Time

Since we now live in a world dominated by information technology, our inability to stop using our phones has exponentially increased as well. Although reading is beneficial to a person's knowledge and education, technology has also managed to slip its tentacles into making books available on phones and computers, increasing the average human being's screen-time to 40%. With audiobooks, you don't have to be constantly staring at your phone. You can be active and mobile at the same time while listening, which makes this a healthier option. Using a computer or phone can distract you through infinity pools such as social media sites, YouTube, and email. With audiobooks, you have zero distractions from any other digital media because you're only listening and not navigating through an interface.
